A CHANCE OF REDEMPTION (PRE GAMES OPINIONS)

So, will history repeat itself, or will the slump continue? The  desperate Leafs will meet Devils on a Sunday night meeting in New Jersey. The history I was referring to was earlier this season. The Leafs were in a four game slump and met the Devils on a Sunday game. The Leafs ended the slump and went on a six game winning streak.

The chances look good, the Leafs have been playing well (even when they lose), and Dave Bolland  is back. But, this is immediately after a disappointing 4-3 loss to the Habs. Like I mentioned in my special blog (http://leafsinmyopinion.blogspot.ca/2014/03/what-is-wrong-with-leafs-special-blog.html), if the Leafs are to get out of the slump they are in, they need to fix. No one else is making the Leafs lose, they are. We shall wait and see what happens.

So, here are the three keys to a Leafs win:

1) A fresh face in net

No offense to Reimer, I think MacIntyre finally gets the start in this one. It makes the most sense since the Devils are close to missing the playoffs. Also, MacIntrye is having a good season in the AHL right now (25-15-3 so far). So why not? Maybe Reimer needs a break from the action and it could give the Leafs some confidence going in. Or they could pray that Bernier comes back from injury!

2) Even more desperation (Because there is never enough)

The Leafs did the right thing last night, as they played more desperately and made strong efforts.  That desperation needs to continue to shine through, and sooner or later, it will pay off with the two points. With Bolland back in the line-up again at a perfect time, it should give the Leafs the emotional boost they need. If the Leafs just keep playing with the desperation of the playoffs, the chances to play in the spring will grow.

3) Everyone has to chip in

Whether it is with goals, hits, fights, or plays, everyone on the Leafs needs to work together to win. The two points will not fall on the Leafs lap as easy as most would think, but players like Kessel, Phaneuf, Gardiner, Lupul, and others need to work hard for their goals, hits, or plays. Very simply, "You can't win if the team plays individually. Everyone must work together, and good things will happen."

Also, this Clarkson's first game in New Jersey since the trade. Hopefully, the Leafs will want to win for him. I predict that this will be a high scoring game, and the winner will have a two goal advantage. See you after the game!

  1. If McClement hadn't flubbed clearing the puck near the side boards just inside the blue line, the Habs wouldn't have scored the winning goal.
